slotMusic Reinventing The Music Format Again

There is a new technology on the horizon and it’s coming this holiday season. This new technology is called slotMusic and it’s looking to make a big splash for the music industry this holiday season. The tech company behind slotMusic is SanDisk and they have already teamed up with some major music industry backers as a new format for the music industry to sell music in a tangible product to replace the CD and compete with the digital download era.

The major companies that are backing the new format are  Sony BMG, Warner Music Group, EMI and the Universal Music Group. As you can see this new format appears to be getting some momentum behind as the music industry searches for a way to combat the downward sales in the music industry. The beauty of this new musical format is that these 1 GIG slotMusic cards will be able to deliver the MP3 format with high quality playback at 320KBPS. All the slotMusic cards will also be packaged with a USB sleeve giving them the ability to connect to all computer formats. The other plus side to this new technology is that you will not need any DRM permissions, passwords or downloads and you can even add your own MP3’s to the slotMusic card then just plug it in and play.

So where do you plug it and play here’s the genius of this product. The players for this new slotMusic is already being widely distributed they are our cell phones and other portable media players. Literally there are billions of players already on the market ready to play this new music format. Seeing the potential of this new product major big box stores like Walmart and Bestbuy are already signed on to offer the new slotMusic this holiday season. So what are your thoughts on the new slotMusic format will this be the big bang that music companies have been hoping for or will it be a bust? Please share your opinions and thanks for reading.

Hey Stephen, I would agree with you on that. Stop rehashing and repackaging the same stuff. It’s a cool idea I think it’s just too late to the party and there is no stopping the digital download train at this point.
