Great Displays At This Years CES

The tech world is all a buzz over the past few days over all the new electronic toys that were showcased at this years CES (Consumer Electronics Show). Each year the CES is a great place to start off the new year and see what possible must have electronic gadgets will be big for new year. I think there was some added pressure this year on all the vendors showcasing their new products to strike the right balance between price and usefulness to the consumer. It will be interesting to see how much the condition of the economy will effect this years new gadget offerings to the general public.

There were a lot of new 3D HDTVs, Palm Pre, Blu-Ray players, Notebooks, Windows 7,  gaming gadgets and all other forms of tech toys. The event was held in Las Vegas and by all accounts was a great showing by the electronics community as a whole. It was as if all corporations involved in electronic consumer products was there representing not only with products but CEO’s came out in big numbers to show support for their industry.

There were a lot of great gadgets at the CES this year and I am sure I will be reading about all of them in the weeks to come but these 3 were the ones that stood out to me.

Windows 7 got a lot of press as the general consensus seems to be that people are not happy with Vista and can not wait for Windows 7 to clean up the mess that has become Vista. The next item which seems to be the new “next big thing” for TV/Movie viewing is the new 3d technology. More and more movies are coming out with 3D versions in the theaters so you know it was a matter of time until it hit the HDTV market. Sony’s demo of 3D HDTV playing 3D PS3 games was apparently an amazing display.

The big winner of the show just might be the new touchscreen smart phone the Palm Pre. It is already being billed as a possible i Phone killer. It will be the Sprint networks first real competitor for the i Phone and the Google Android phones. I love the fact that it has the USB capability, multi tasking for apps the slide out qwerty keyboard and the wireless charging feature. There was no release date of price announced yet hopefully it will be on par with it’s competitors if not a little cheaper to put the pressure on them. One can only hope!
